If you’re considering starting a vlog, YouTube has something for you.
YouTube CEO, Susan Wojcicki announced this week that the platform will be integrating non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as an added feature, joining the likes of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
According to the announcement, YouTube has been looking into more ways — outside of ads and views — for creators to make money, and they have found a solution in NFTs. However, Wojcicki didn’t provide additional details on what NFT features on the platform could look like.
Creators beat them to it: Some viral YouTubers have already auctioned their videos as NFTs. Early day social media users might remember 2007’s viral ‘Charlie Bit Me’ video, sold for over $750,000.
